Accident Investigation
Overview
Participants in this course will be using the class information to practice accident investigation (Hands-on). They will also review electric utility fatality cases and conduct fact finding based on the information provided. Supervisor responsibilities and liabilities will be reviewed, as they relate to employees, contract employees and public injuries. The information provided should prepare the participants to form an accident investigation committee, conduct investigations, determine the facts and recommend corrective actions to prevent a reoccurrence.
The program is part of Tennessee Valley Public Power Association’s (TVPPA) Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC) program.
CERTIFIED SAFETY COORDINATOR (CSC): Individuals responsible for safety management must have current, professional knowledge and expertise to achieve and maintain a safe work environment and work practices for utility employees. TVPPA developed the Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC) to address modern health and safety issues. All course requirements satisfactorily completed within four years of starting the program by taking a required core course.

- Rigging, Hoisting, Hand and Power Tool Safety
- Transportation Safety
- Accident Investigation
- National Electrical Safety Code Review
Participants may complete the course as a standalone course outside of pursuing CSC certification.
Morning snacks and lunch will be provided.
