We Represent Florida’s Hometown Utilities

When you turn on your lights, you may not think about where your electricity comes from. But the type of electric utility you’re served by makes a difference in the quality of life in your community.

One type of electric utility is known as a municipal utility. These hometown utilities are unique because they are owned by the cities they serve. Their friendly local employees provide reliable electricity and personal service. Their not-for-profit rates and community re-investments keep money in the local community. And utility decisions are made at local, public meetings where customers have access and influence into the decision-making process.

FMPA is owned and governed by the members we serve.

Get to Know Our Members

We call them members because they are more than customers; they are our owners. FMPA is owned and governed by the members we serve.

FMPA’s member utilities are located throughout the state from the Panhandle to Key West. Together, they provide electricity to nearly 3 million Floridians, or 14% of the state population, and employ nearly 3,600 people.
