Starke Utility Committee Chair Elected Vice Chair of FMPA Committee

Committee fosters communication between statewide power agency and local public officials

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 10, 2010 – Starke Citizens Utility Advisory Committee Chair Scott Roberts was elected Oct. 27, 2010, as Vice Chair of Florida Municipal Power Agency’s (FMPA) Policy Makers Liaisons Committee.

The Policy Makers Liaisons Committee is made up of elected and appointed officials from 14 municipal utilities that own FMPA. The group fosters opportunities for communication and knowledge about their wholesale power provider’s business and projects.

“Wholesale power supply accounts for approximately 50% to 75% of the monthly bill to retail electric customers, so it is important for public officials to know more about this essential area,” said Roberts. “I’m honored to be part of a program that helps community leaders increase their knowledge and share ideas for the benefit of their local ratepayers.”

Roberts is Owner/Agent for George Roberts Insurance of Starke, Fla., and he chairs the city of Starke’s Citizens Utility Advisory Committee, a blue-ribbon panel on utility issues.
