FMPA Releases Electricity Conservation Videos for Customers
Save energy and money right away with simple how-to demonstrations
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 29, 2010 – Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) released a series of 15 brief educational videos today to show residential customers how to conserve electricity and save money on their utility bills.
The short videos provide quick tips and how-to demonstrations on 15 energy efficiency topics, including:
- Buying a new air conditioning unit
- Reading an electric meter
- Using ceiling fans efficiently
- Evaluating ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances
- Conserving water
- Using a programmable thermostat correctly
- Understanding insulation
“The videos from FMPA show customers how to manage their utility bills in ways that are good for them and good for the environment,” said General Manager and CEO Nicholas P. Guarriello. “Especially in this difficult economy, we want to help people save money.”
Residents can view the clips now by visiting FMPA’s Green Web site at http://green.fmpa.com and clicking Energy Conservation. The videos will also soon be available to customers throughout the state in DVD format and via FMPA member utilities’ Web sites.
FMPA serves the wholesale electricity needs for 14 municipal electric utilities. The city-owned utilities created a $1 million fund to pay for programs that help customers conserve electricity, and the conservation videos are one product of this effort. The cities include Bushnell, Clewiston, Fort Meade, Fort Pierce, Green Cove Springs, Havana, Jacksonville Beach, Key West, Kissimmee, Lake Worth, Leesburg, Newberry, Ocala and Starke.
