Florida Public Power Customers Meet the People “Behind the Switch”

Social media campaign shows how Florida cities provide low-cost, reliable, clean power

ORLANDO, Fla., April 7, 2021 – Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) today launched its annual social media campaign that highlights the people “Behind the Switch” at Florida’s public power utilities and shows the work they do to provide affordable, reliable and clean electricity to customers.

During April, FMPA will post short videos on its Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter pages that highlight the roles people play providing electricity. In weekly videos, viewers will meet:

  • Customer service representatives, who help customers save money and energy.
  • Local elected officials and utility staff, who make decisions to keep electric bills low.
  • Power plant workers, lineworkers and arborists, who ensure customers’ lights stay on.
  • Staff from FMPA and its member cities, who are working to reduce carbon emissions.

“There are many people working behind the switch to ensure Florida’s public power customers have affordable, reliable and clean electricity,” said FMPA General Manager and CEO Jacob Williams. “With this series, we are highlighting their roles and the difference they and many others make in customers’ lives.”
