Committee fosters communication between power agency and public officials

ORLANDO, Fla., July 21, 2011 – Local elected and appointed officials from throughout Florida elected two of their own today to lead the Florida Municipal Power Agency’s (FMPA) Policy Makers Liaisons Committee.

Scott Roberts of Starke was elected as Chair, and Bill Conrad of Newberry was elected Vice Chair. For a one-year term, they will lead the Committee in its mission of fostering communication between public officials and FMPA, their wholesale electricity provider.

This is Roberts’ first term as Chair. He previously served as Vice Chair and has been a member of the Policy Makers Liaisons Committee since its formation in 2008. Roberts chairs the city of Starke’s Citizens Utility Advisory Committee, a blue-ribbon panel on utility issues.

This is Conrad’s first term as Vice Chair. He has been a member of the Policy Makers Liaisons Committee since its formation in 2008, and he has represented his city on the All-Requirements Project Executive Committee and FMPA Board of Directors since 2009. Conrad is Mayor of the city of Newberry.
