City Officials Elected to Lead Statewide Committee

Committee fosters communication between power agency and public officials

ORLANDO, Fla., July 27, 2012 – Local elected and appointed officials from throughout Florida elected two of their own yesterday to lead the Florida Municipal Power Agency’s (FMPA) Policy Makers Liaisons Committee.

Scott Roberts of Starke was re-elected as Chair, and Bill Conrad of Newberry was re-elected Vice Chair. They will lead the Committee in its mission of fostering communication between public officials and FMPA, their wholesale electricity provider.

This is Roberts’ second term as Chair. He previously served as Vice Chair and has been a member of the Policy Makers Liaisons Committee since its formation in 2008. Roberts chairs the city of Starke’s Citizens Utility Advisory Committee, a blue-ribbon panel on utility issues.

This is Conrad’s second term as Vice Chair. He has been a member of the Policy Makers Liaisons Committee since its formation in 2008. He also was elected today to serve a one-year term as Treasurer of the FMPA Board of Directors. He has represented his city on the Board of Directors and All-Requirements Project Executive Committee since 2009. Conrad is Mayor of the city of Newberry.

Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) is a wholesale power company owned by 30 municipal electric utilities. FMPA provides economies of scale in power generation and related services to support community-owned electric utilities. The members of FMPA serve approximately two million Floridians.
