Florida Municipal Power Pool Names Aaron Casto Executive Director
Casto’s experience to help continue providing affordable, reliable power for customers
ORLANDO, Fla., June 17, 2020 – The Florida Municipal Power Pool (FMPP) has named Aaron P. Casto as Executive Director effective June 29, 2020. Casto replaces Thomas E. Reedy, who has led the power pool since June 2014. Reedy will retire Oct. 30, 2020.
Casto will oversee FMPP’s day-to-day operations, which is structured to leverage economies of scale through economic dispatching of the combined power-generating resources of Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA), Lakeland Electric and Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC—The Reliable One) to collectively lower costs and enhance reliability.
In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, Casto will focus on new initiatives, including mitigating strategies for managing solar energy intermittency for the power pool’s generation mix, while working to keep the overall cost of meeting FMPP members’ energy needs as low as possible.
With more than 20 years of experience in the electric utility industry, Casto has expertise in large-scale change initiatives and critical operations management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
