FMPA Creates Executive Position to Oversee Electricity Reliability
Promotion underscores FMPA’s commitment to reliability, regulatory compliance
ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 22, 2012 – Electricity reliability for municipal utilities will be the focus of a new executive position created by Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA). The promotion is part of FMPA’s ongoing commitment to comply with evolving federal standards for electric reliability.
Frank Gaffney was promoted to the newly created position of Assistant General Manager of and Officer of Regulatory Compliance. Gaffney’s duties include overseeing FMPA’s compliance with federal reliability standards, assisting FMPA’s members with their compliance programs, influencing development of regulations and overseeing FMPA’s regulatory compliance staff.
Gaffney joined FMPA in February 2009 as Regulatory Compliance Officer. He has more than 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Prior to joining FMPA, Gaffney served as National Director and Principal of Transmission Markets and Consulting at R.W. Beck. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University, a master’s degree in electrical power engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in management from Lesley College.
