FMPA Member Satisfaction Increases, Remains High Overall

Survey shows members trust staff and are encouraged by direction of Agency

ORLANDO, Fla., May 31, 2016 – Low electric rates and a commitment to working together through FMPA contributed to an increase in overall member satisfaction for the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) members, according to FMPA’s 2016 Board of Directors Member Relations Survey released today. Overall satisfaction increased 5% from the previous survey in 2014 and exceeds the 16-year average since the survey’s inception.

FMPA has conducted its member relations survey every two years since 2000. The purpose is to measure the relationship between FMPA members and staff. Relationships are measured through a set of six indicators, including: 1) balance in the relationship, 2) integrity, 3) competence, 4) dependability, 5) commitment, and 6) overall satisfaction with the relationship.

Survey Highlights

  • Member satisfaction increased in all measures since 2014 and remains high overall.
  • Among respondents, 95% agreed they are satisfied with the relationship they have with FMPA staff. This is near the all-time high of 97%.
  • When asked if FMPA is headed in the right direction, 96% agreed, a 10% increase from 2014.
  • Commitment was FMPA’s highest-rated relationship indicator, with 86% strongly agreeing and 14% agreeing that they would rather work together with the FMPA staff than not.
  • Competence was FMPA’s second-highest relationship indicator. When asked about their confidence in FMPA staff’s skills, 64% strongly agreed they were confident and 36% agreed.

“The results of this year’s survey show that our members are very satisfied with FMPA,” said FMPA General Manager and CEO Nicholas Guarriello. “We have much to be proud of, and we will continue to work together to provide low-cost power for our local communities.”

Based on the survey results, FMPA developed three recommendations for staff to enhance relationships with members: 1) a continued focus on reliable, low-cost power, 2) respond to members’ requests in a timely manner, and 3) communicate with and encourage participation by all FMPA members.
