FMPA employees’ acts of kindness give back to the community year-round

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 21, 2015 – Holiday wishes will come true this year for 60 children of the Children’s Home Society of Florida, thanks to thoughtful employees who have come together to help the community.

Employees of the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) collected bikes, clothes, toys and gift cards to grant holiday wishes of children in need. This is the 17^th consecutive year that FMPA has helped collect gifts for the Children’s Home Society of Florida, an organization that protects children at risk and strengthens families.

“Charitable giving and volunteerism are a tradition at FMPA,” said FMPA General Manager and CEO Nicholas P. Guarriello. “Service to our neighbors is one of the things that unites our employees and makes FMPA a great place to work.”

The holiday season isn’t the only time FMPA employees help the community. Employees have donated time, goods and money throughout 2015 to make life brighter for their neighbors, showing that generosity goes a long way. Frequent fundraisers and other activities throughout the year were organized to support neighbors in need, including:

• Raising $11,203 in 2015 to support charities, including Heart of Florida United Way, The Russell Home for Atypical Children, and Children’s Home Society.

• Collecting nonperishable food items to support the Russell Home year-round.

• Performing maintenance work at Help Now Osceola, a domestic violence shelter and advocacy center in Osceola County, Fla.

“With approximately 70 full-time employees, our staff may seem small, but together, we can make a big impact in our community,” said Guarriello.

Donations to FMPA’s 17^th annual holiday gift drive included bicycles, scooters, tablets, boom boxes, legos, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures, gift cards and more.
