FMPA Fiscal 2014 Annual Report describes Agency’s strategy to reduce power costs

ORLANDO, Fla., April 27, 2015 – Florida’s municipal electric utilities are combining their resources—both human and machine—to achieve the lowest possible power costs, reports the fiscal 2014 Annual Report of the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) released today.

The All-Requirements Project, FMPA’s largest power supply project, has reduced wholesale power costs more than 20% since 2009, and today, rates are close to the average wholesale rates of Florida’s investor-owned utilities. FMPA members have the vision to be the lowest cost, sustainable wholesale power provider in Florida, and the Annual Report talks about FMPA’s strategy to achieve that goal.

“FMPA has improved, and we can improve some more,” said FMPA General Manager and CEO Nicholas P. Guarriello. “Our members told us low-cost power is what they need, and we’re listening. Throughout 2014, we sharpened our focus on the mission of lowering power costs.”
