Negotiations & Contracts Training

Overview

Interpersonal skills and relationships are key to a diverse business strategy when dealing in the purchasing realm. This class focuses on how to use different personality traits to gain better strategies of communication within and outside of your utility. With learning different traits and communication, you gain a better understanding of how to control negotiations and contracts. Knowing how these two go hand-in-hand supports you learning new tactics, how to handle old tricks, and what the law references in both of these scenarios.

The course may be taken as an individual training or in pursuit of the TVPPA Utility Purchasing & Materials Management (UPMM) certificate. The UPMM curriculum is designed for public power purchasing personnel. Earning this certificate requires completing four courses, which are:
