See ‘Behind the Switch’ at What It Takes to Provide Solar Electricity
Social-media campaign shows how Florida cities provide low-cost, reliable, clean power
ORLANDO, Fla., March 4, 2020 – Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) launched a social-media campaign today to show retail electric customers what it takes “Behind the Switch” to provide reliable, solar power at the most economical price.
Public power utilities that are members of FMPA, an Orlando-based wholesale power provider, are funding large-scale solar farms that will install 1.5 million solar panels by 2023. To explain how these major solar installations will provide power for customers, FMPA is featuring solar power videos on its Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter pages during March.
Four, short videos will explain:
- How solar panels work.
- The benefits of large-scale solar installations.
- How utilities must be ready to provide power when the sun doesn’t shine.
- How customers can support solar power.
The videos will be released once a week throughout March.
“There is a lot that goes on behind-the-scenes at electric utilities to provide great service for our customers,” said FMPA General Manager and CEO, Jacob Williams. “With this series, we hope to showcase some of what it takes to provide low-cost, reliable and clean power.”
