ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 5, 2008 – The Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) today named Nicholas Guarriello as Interim General Manager, replacing Roger A. Fontes when he retires Sept. 5.

Guarriello has more than 30 years of experience in the utility industry. Currently, he serves as Principal and Immediate Past President/CEO of R.W. Beck’s President and CEO.

Guarriello has experience providing services to joint action agencies, including playing a key role in the formation of FMPA 30 years ago. He has served as project manager and principal-in-charge for numerous FMPA power supply studies, bond financings and contractual analyses and negotiations, including those relating to joint ownership agreements and litigation support services for FMPA. “Nick is an exceptionally capable individual, who has tremendous knowledge of FMPA’s business,” said James C. Welsh, Chairman of FMPA and President and General Manager of Kissimmee Utility Authority. “FMPA is fortunate to have a candidate with his qualifications.”

Guarriello will be an executive on loan from R.W. Beck to FMPA. He will be solely devoted on a full-time basis to being FMPA’s Interim General Manager, and he will serve in this capacity at the pleasure of FMPA’s Board of Directors.
