FMPA Volunteers Makeover Offices of Residential Facility for Youth
Wholesale power agency supports The Grove and IMPOWER in Day of Caring
ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 28, 2018 – Sixteen employees of the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) provided a new look to The Grove Counseling Center in Winter Springs as part of Heart of Florida United Way’s Day of Caring.
This is FMPA’s tenth year participating in Day of Caring, Central Florida’s largest volunteer event. This year’s project involved removing carpet and painting the reception area of the voluntary residential facility at The Grove, which is a program of IMPOWER that helps adolescents ages 13-17 suffering from drug, alcohol or substance abuse. Volunteers also stained picnic tables and created a birthday box filled with handwritten notes.
“Supporting communities is part of FMPA’s culture,” said FMPA General Manager and CEO Jacob Williams. “Whether it’s our day job of providing low-cost wholesale power to communities or volunteer events like Day of Caring, I am proud of the deep compassion our employees have for the needs of others.”
