FMPA Launches Redesigned Web Site
ORLANDO, Fla., April 2, 2001 – The Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) launched a redesigned Web site on April 2. The new site features major improvements in appearance and functionality. The site address is www.fmpa.com.
FMPA hired an Atlanta-based marketing communications firm, Merge Inc., to provide creative strategy and graphic development for the new site. Programming of the site was accomplished by FMPA staff.
Merge sought to give FMPA’s site a personality that communicates the values of FMPA and presents content in a professional, user-friendly manner. Merge also wanted the site to have a “voice” that would connect in a very human way with individual visitors. Merge’s designers said, “The meaning of a reliable power supply becomes more tangible when you see how many ways it supports the way we live.”
The site’s creative direction was developed around the theme, “Where there is life, there is power … every minute, every hour, every day.” Variations on the main theme are continued throughout the site, presenting the visitor with a variety of images of life and power.
One notable content improvement is a navigation bar at the bottom of the home page that highlights the three most recent site postings. Another new feature under development is a virtual tour of FMPA’s energy efficient headquarters. The new office building, which FMPA occupied in May 2000, is a showcase of cost-effective energy efficient technology and design.
The new site contains all the same information as the previous site, including news releases, annual reports, quarterly financial reports, newsletters, updates on FMPA’s power projects, bid documents for FMPA’s Joint Purchasing Project, employment opportunities at both FMPA and at its member cities, a meeting schedule, a fact sheet on FMPA, contact information and more.
