2025 SERC Physical Security Workshop
Overview
This event will be of interest to any utility staff charged with securing electric facilities and assets, as well as external security personnel whose facilities are dependent on reliable electricity delivery.
Snacks and lunch will be provided.
Additional Requirements and Available Accredited Hours
To participate, you must complete both the FMPA registration form below and the SERC registration process via SERC University. There’s no cost associated with either registration.
Registering with SERC University also allows you to receive CPE, PEH, ASIS or NREC accreditation hours for relevant certifications. Completing this accredited source within the system allows you to maintain testing records for the accrediting bodies’ audit process. Additional CIP and electric sector education and training is also available for free via SERC University.
Completing the SERC registration gives you access to a post-training assessment. The assessment is required only for participants seeking accreditation hours for the course. Participants have three days after training ends to complete the assessment.

In this workshop, you will:
- Identify the layers/stages of protection in depth
- Describe the role of Design Basis Threat in identifying threats and risk for entities and external partners
- Identify the importance of physical security for registered entities, external partners, and their assets
- Identify types of threats/vulnerabilities to physical security for registered entities
- Explain the reason for employing physical security controls
In the VISA application sessions, you will:
- Experience practical application of adversary sequence diagrams, Design Basis Threat (DBT), the the Vulnerability of Integrated Security Analysis (VISA) methodologies
