FMPA employees’ acts of kindness give back to the community year-round

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 21, 2017 – Holiday wishes will come true this year for 70 children of the Children’s Home Society of Florida, thanks to generous employees of the Florida Municipal Power Agency who have come together to help the community.

Employees fundraised more than $4,000 and collected bikes, clothes, toys, sports equipment, electronics and gift cards to grant holiday wishes of children in need. This is the 19th consecutive year that FMPA has collected gifts for Children’s Home Society of Florida, an organization that protects children at risk and strengthens families.

The holiday season isn’t the only time FMPA employees help the community. Employees donated time, goods and money throughout 2017 to help local organizations. Fundraisers and other activities throughout the year were organized to support neighbors in need, including:

• Raising more than $11,000 in 2017 to support charities, including Heart of Florida United Way, The Russell Home for Atypical Children, Inc., and Children’s Home Society.
• Donating $1,000 and collecting nonperishable food and gently used items to support The Russell Home year-round.
• Donating school supplies, including back packs, pencils, pens, paper, folders, erasers, glues sticks, flash drives and more for underprivileged children.
• Picking up leaves and tree limbs that were blown down by Hurricane Irma, cleaning water gutters, repairing a wood fence, and cleaning the kitchen of a home at IMPOWER’s transformation housing village in Winter Park, Fla.
