Bill Conrad is Mayor of the city of Newberry, Fla., and owner and president of Conrad Construction Company. He serves as the elected Chairman of the Florida Municipal Power Agency’s (FMPA) Board of Directors.
Conrad was first elected as FMPA’s Chairman in July 2013. Previously, he served one term as Treasurer. He has been a member of FMPA’s Board of Directors and FMPA’s Executive Committee since 2009. Conrad previously served two terms as Vice Chair of FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee, of which he is a founding member.
Conrad was first elected as Newberry’s Mayor in 2011. Previously, he served five years as City Commissioner. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 2000 as a lieutenant colonel.
Conrad is a member of the American Public Power Association’s Policy Makers Council and was the 2013 recipient of the association’s Spence Vanderlinden Public Official Award. He was named Florida Municipal Electric Association’s 2011-2012 Member of the Year. He is also on the citizens’ forum of the Florida Bar.
Conrad holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and a degree in building construction from Santa Fe College in Florida.
