DESCRIPTION: Participants gain an overview of rigging equipment and practices; inspections and records on chokers and slings; lifting equipment inspections and regulations; maintenance and inspection of hand and power tools; safe work practices; machine guarding requirements; employee training and records; and personal protective equipment.
The course is part of Tennessee Valley Public Power Association’s (TVPPA) Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC) program.
CERTIFIED SAFETY COORDINATOR (CSC): Individuals responsible for safety management must have current, professional knowledge and expertise to achieve and maintain a safe work environment and work practices for utility employees. TVPPA developed the Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC) to address modern health and safety issues. All course requirements satisfactorily completed within four years of starting the program by taking a required core course.
