Power Pool

We Pool Our Resources for Efficiency, Reliability

FMPA works with other municipal utilities to save money and enhance reliability

The Florida Municipal Power Pool functions much like a car pool. It lets utilities combine their generating resources to efficiently meet the customers’ use of electricity. Like sharing a ride to work, the utilities share their fleet of power plants and power purchase contracts to economically and reliably produce electricity.

The Pool includes the resources of FMPA’s All-Requirements Project, Lakeland Electric and Orlando Utilities Commission. Since the Pool was founded in 1988, consumers in these cities have enjoyed lower electricity costs and enhanced service reliability.
