  • Systems Analyst- Hardware- Keys Energy Services, Fla

    Description

    The role of this position is to install, configure, manage, administer, and upgrade KEYS infrastructure and non-infrastructure hardware and peripherals. This position serves as the point for all cellular hardware and peripherals. This position is lead for all substation and remote installations of peripheral hardware and interfaces. The incumbent serves as the lead for desktop support for KEYS.

     The incumbent for this position works closely with the Assistant Director, Systems Analyst, Network Analyst, Control Systems Analyst, and Application Analyst to maintain integrity of hardware and peripherals and ensure continuity of services. The incumbent serves as the backup for the Systems Analyst-Systems and maintains knowledge of KEYS systems architecture. The incumbent serves as the alternate domain administrator and Office 365 administrator.

    Position Requirements

    • Monitoring desktop and peripheral systems for performance, security, and other issues.
    • Recommending, installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting all hardware and peripheral software and hardware.
    • Recommending, installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting cellular, fiber, and other connectivity.
    • Assisting users with applications, software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
    • Translating requirements into new information services project specifications.
    • Monitoring, installing, and maintaining power supply requirements and configuration.

  • Electrical Engineer- City of Jacksonville Beach, Fla

    Description

    This position performs difficult professional work in the design, planning, and maintenance of an electric transmission and distribution system; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Electrical Engineering Supervisor.

    Position Requirements

    The work is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

    • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
    • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
    • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
    • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods.

  • Senior Relay Technician – Ocala Eletric Utility, Fla

    Description

    This is a responsible, skilled and advanced technical position in the construction, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of protective relays, SCADA, fiber optic and related substation equipment. Also requires experience in designing and engineering new substations, modifying existing substations, CAD, preparing electrical specifications and price lists. Reports to the Relay Technician Supervisor and/or the Electric Substation Supervisor.

    Position Requirements

    Coordinate and assist as necessary with the on-site installation and/or modification of protective relay schemes, SCADA, Fiber Optic and related equipment. Calculate new or review existing relay settings for application to the associated protective relays.

    Reads and works from detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. In the event of a system malfunction, may be called at home to respond to the situation at any hour, must assess the situation and use judgement to make appropriate repairs as quickly as possible to meet service demands. Communicates clearly and courteously to assist others.

    Prepares handwritten investigation reports on equipment failures and system mis-operations. Keep accurate relay test reports and maintenance records of substation equipment. Requires manual dexterity to use desktop and laptop computer equipment in running automated relay tests.

    Works with electrical engineers and contractors at the job site or in an office environment. Must possess a thorough knowledge of protective relay schemes,

    their correct application / operation and limitations of each scheme.

    Required to follow switching orders issued by System Control Center, requiring the operation, locking-out and tagging of Transmission and Distribution substation circuit breakers, gang-operated switches, and hook-disconnects. Must be visually and audibly alert to detect hazards. Safety equipment issued includes safety manual, hard hat, hi-voltage rubber gloves, safety glasses, earplugs, and rain gear.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    Graduation from High School, GED or Military training with supplemental training in Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution. Minimum of ten (10) years experience as a relay technician. Minimum five (5) years experience with computers, microprocessor controlled equipment (protective relaying and SCADA), fiber optics, and data communications. Or graduation from an accredited two-year technical school at college level with an Associate of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with supplemental training in Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution with a minimum of five (5) years experience as a relay technician. Minimum three (3) years experience with computers, microprocessor controlled equipment (protective relaying and SCADA), fiber optics, and data communications.

  • Electric Utility Director- City of Fort Meade, Fla

    Description

    This is highly responsible administrative, professional and technical work involved in
    planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, leading and managing all facets of a
    municipal Electric Utility operations for 2,700 customers. Electric territory includes
    areas outside the corporate limits. The system is comprised of one substation with
    five feeder lines. This position has key responsibility for the construction,
    maintenance and repair of the electrical transmission and overhead and
    underground distribution systems. The City of Fort Meade is a member of the
    Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) All Requirements Project (ARP) and
    receives transmission power through Duke Energy.

    Position Requirements

     Directs electric utility operations.
    2. Coordinates professional engineering tasks to plan, design, estimate, and
    prepare specifications for construction of various electrical overhead and
    underground distribution systems.
    3. Oversees all professional service and maintenance contracts.
    4. Supervises and motivates Electric Superintendent; Linemen; Apprentice; and
    Line Helper positions; sets goals for organization advancement.
    5. Recommends training and safety programs for all personnel; determines
    appropriate curriculum.
    6. Develops a Technical Standards Manual to guide service requests; sets
    standards for new development.
    7. Establishes Electric Utility Master Plan.
    8. Maintains accurate transmission and distribution system maps; engages GIS
    professionals.
    9. Prepares specifications to procure materials and supplies necessary to
    maintain adequate system inventory; solicits vendor lists.

    10. Performs calculations for load and coordination studies; obtains outside
    expertise as necessary to ensure that the system load is balanced at all
    times.
    11. Attends Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) meetings; prepares report
    summarizing Board actions.
    12. Coordinates Tri-Party Net Metering Agreement Program with FMPA.
    13. Interfaces with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North
    American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and Florida Reliability
    Coordinating Council (FRCC).
    14. Cultivates membership with Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA).
    15. Prepares agenda items for City Commission consideration; Attends bimonthly Commission meetings.
    16. Assures that citizen inquiries are handled in a professional manner.
    17. Ensures that street lighting is maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
    18. Prepares annual operating and capital budget request.
    19. Plans long-range capital improvement programs.
    20. Assimilates outage reports; sets System Average Interruption Duration Index
    (SAIDI) goal; determines cause for service interruption.

    Position Requirements

    Description

    Skilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines in accordance with standards of the trade.

    Position Requirements

    Performs routine construction, maintenance and repair of the electrical distribution system.

    1. Performs work with high voltage lines and under unfavorable weather conditions requiring skill and care to protect the employee’s life and the lives of others. Live high voltage work may be performed on a case-by-case basis as authorized by a supervisor.
    2. Performs work that requires installation and maintenance of municipal, commercial and residential electric service.
    3. Performs work that will satisfy inspections while in progress and upon completion for quality standards of the trade and adherence to safety precautions.
    4. Installs and repairs step down transformer banks and installs pole and pad-mount transformers.
    5. Climbs poles to construct, replace and repair power lines; arresters, lights, transformers, capacitor switches, breakers, cross-arms, t-brackets, and other distribution equipment.
    6. Installs “C.T.’s” and “P.T.’s” with instrument metering.

  • Integrated Resource/ Clean Energy Plan Program Manager- Winter Park, Fla

    Description

    An integrated resource plan (IRP) is a public planning process to establish a roadmap for how an electric utility meets the projected load of its customers, in a cost-effective and reliable manner.

    This position is responsible for defining and managing the implementation of the activities, analyses, and contracts required for the City of Winter Park (CWP) to achieve its renewable energy goals for its electric utility. The CWP renewable energy goals are to achieve 80% renewable electric supply by 2035 and technology cost permitting, 100% by 2050. 

    Position Requirements

    The position will create the detailed plan, detailed scope and manage:

    Projects to assess options and implement cost-effective, energy efficiency and demand response programs for CWP customers

    Projects to assess changes to retail rates including but not limited to time of use rates, and changes to net energy metering rates

    Projects to assess resource options and updates to the long-term energy resource supply plan

    Supports the CWP Director of Electric Utility to perform, financial analysis, manage solicitation and commercial analysis of options for energy supply investments and purchase power agreements

    Analyzes options to promote and enable customer installations of distributed solar and distributed storage systems and electric vehicle charging locations

    Manages consultants necessary to achieve renewable energy goals

    Oversees the Energy Conservation Fund for project implementation and actively seek grant funding for various projects

    Development of reporting frameworks with new measurement methodologies, metrics, and key performance indicators including the development and maintenance of a variety of reports and dashboards to track measurements

    IRP Filing must include data and supporting information sufficient to demonstrate the utility is meeting the renewable energy goals and targets

    Develops load and demand forecast if required by the energy commission or by the state

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the power industry or power consultancies supplemented by a minimum of five years or more of experience in relevant positions or other jobs with similar levels of responsibility and overlapping skills. 

    An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities, and other competencies required for the position may be considered.

    Skilled technical work involved in the repair and replacement of power, lighting, and signal systems.  A Troubleman is responsible for locating the source of electric powerline disturbances or failures and replacing or repairing defective equipment and accessories.  

    An employee in this classification exercises independent judgment and decision-making within safety standards of powerline work.   Work performance is evaluated by observation of results obtained.  

    Position Requirements

    • Responds to requests for emergency service; locates the source of problem and repairs and/or replaces transmission and distribution powerlines and equipment, including meters.
    • Tests powerlines and auxiliary equipment to identify defective voltage regulations, transformers, etc., causing disturbance.  
    • Climbs pole and towers to repair or replace overhead equipment.  
    • Opens switches to de-energize disturbed or fallen lines to facilitate repairs or to remove electrical hazards.  
    • Makes a determination as to when additional crew personnel will be required to complete repair work to restore power and advises dispatch of the need.
    • Assists crew personnel with repair work as workload volume permits.
    • Troubleshoots, installs, and repairs street light circuitry.
    • May locate and correct electrical trouble in certain building circuits.
    • May perform cut-off and cut-on functions of services as required.
    • Will be required to set and remove electric meters as necessary.
    • May direct work assignments of subordinate personnel in the repair and replacement of equipment.
    • Uses equipment and tools with precaution and within prescribed safety standards.

    Type of Appointment/Work hours:

    • Full-time/Regular in-person position.
    • Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day or four (4) days of ten (10) hours per day.  The work day may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.
    • Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

  • Lineworker-Journey Level – Tallahassee, Fla.

    Description

    This is highly skilled journey level work in the transmission and distribution areas of the Electric & Gas Utility.  Work consists of overhead and underground line work and service truck work, overseeing and directing the activities of other employees, training and instructing other employees and participating in required training programs.

    Position Requirements

    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate and completion of the Electric & Gas Utility apprenticeship program for Lineworker – Journey Level; completion of an external apprenticeship program in linework and one year of journey level work experience. Experience may be substituted for required education on a year by year bases that includes erection, maintenance and repair of overhead and/or underground electrical distribution and transmission line systems.

    Individuals in these classifications are:

    • Considered essential employees during emergency/storm events and must be able to work 16 hours per day for extended periods of time and may be required to be away from their family.
    • Must be available to serve on-call and are subject to having to work outside of their assigned shift/schedule to meet operational needs.
    • Individuals in this classification are subject to being deployed for mutual aid assignments out of town. These mutual aid assignments will require travel, extended work days and working 16 hours per day during deployment.
    • Must be available to work a rotation shift that covers 7 days a week with extended hours until 10 PM in the evenings.
