Issue #23 – Temporary Traffic Increase Expected, May 15, 2009

Construction of the new Cane Island Unit 4, a natural gas-fueled power generating unit, is expected to temporarily increase traffic near the Cane Island Power Park, located near Intercession City, Fla., in northwest Osceola County. Traffic in the area is expected to be somewhat elevated from May 2009 through September 2010, but the project partners are taking steps to minimize impacts on local residents.

Local and state agencies have completed their review of Cane Island Unit 4 and reached agreement that there is no opposition to the application. The project is ahead of schedule in the nearly year-long approval process. In other news, the Cane Island Power Park hosted participants this week from Power-Gen International, the world’s largest power generation conference and exhibition.
